this thanksgiving, we are thankful for airbags, seatbelts, insurance, the kindness of strangers, and people in our lives who have reached out and offered help to us during this time. Not feeling so thankful for people who run red lights and completely destroy our home. Last week, Colton and Sadie were in a car accident that wrecked the entire front area of the van and part of the build inside. Thank God they were both able to walk away with only minor injuries as of now. Sadie seems okay overall - she has just been very sore around her neck and is terrified of any loud noise. Colton has a few more physical injuries that we are monitoring. We are working with insurance and waiting to find out if it will be totaled or not. It’s been a hard time. We aren’t sure what our future will look like anymore and it’s really hard to lose your home. We’ll keep everyone updated once we find out more.

The first state we’ve traveled to that we did not want to ever leave! Between the crystal clear blue water, hiking trails, free camping, wildlife, charming small towns, and the scenic coastline, it truly is a gem of a state.

Acadia national park easily makes the top three for both of our favorite parks. The cliffside views into the ocean are breathtaking.

After driving the coast, we went north to stay on Maine’s public lands. It’s basically a giant forest with dirt roads leading to first come first serve free campgrounds. We found one right on the water and we were the only campers there. It was magical. We spent our nights and early mornings here looking for Moose in the forest and we were lucky enough to find so many! I think we counted ten in total by the end. These animals are so huge and beautiful🪵🍂🍁🫎

Maine is a state we are hoping to get to return to in the future and stay for a long, long time❤️

summer travels!!! We had a great summer spending t

summer travels!!! We had a great summer spending time with family and exploring my home state of Virginia in the van. We explored all over the state, from Virginia Beach to the mountains near Roanoke! We also went up to Niagara Falls, Scranton, and Philadelphia!

In Niagara Falls, we were able to sleep only a few blocks from the falls thanks to @boondockers.welcome , which made visiting the area so smooth as we could park our van in a safe place for the night and walk everywhere! We went on the Maid of the Mist boat ride which brings you right up close to the falls! It was so much fun.

As huge “the office” fans, we had to stop at Scranton, PA on the way to Virginia. We followed a self-guided tour we found online and saw a lot of the shots from the opening credits, ate at Alfredo’s pizza cafe (not pizza by Alfredo), and went to Poor Richard’s Pub!

Next, we walked all over Philadelphia to do all the touristy things like visiting Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. We also went to Pat’s and Geno’s steaks to have their Philly Cheesesteaks (Colton’s first time EVER trying one! & he has not stopped talking about them since lol)

Our summer ended with the Carpenter family reunion trip in the mountains of western Virginia! We had so much fun going hiking, kayaking, fishing, and spending time with each other🚣🏻‍♀️🎣❤️

Next, we are heading to the Carolina’s and hopefully up to New England in October to see the leaves change!!🍁🍄🍂
